Oil & Aloe Lotion Recipe
For this recipe I combine Aloe Vera Gel with Aloe Vera with lipid oils, vitamin E, and 1% essential oils to arrive at a mildly-scented, hydrating lotion for facial care.**
INGREDIENTS:
• 3 teaspoons Aloe Vera Gel + Aloe Vera combination
• 3 teaspoons Lipid oils combination
• Capsules of Vitamin E (use 2 for this recipe)
• Essential Oil or Blend of choice (a few drops)
TOOLS:
• 2 small jars, 4 oz size is adequate
• 2 clean wooden chopsticks for stirring
• 2 clean measuring spoons in 1 teaspoon size
• 1-1oz container for your lotion
• clean, small spatula
METHOD:
1. Gather your materials together, clean with alcohol.
Make sure that all containers, chopsticks for stirring, and your final lotion bottle are sparkling clean. A final wipe or spritz with rubbing alcohol over any surface or container you’re using will help ensure sanitary and germ-free containers.
2. Measure your Aloe Vera:
Measure 1.5 teaspoons Aloe Vera and pour into one of the small jars. Add 1.5 teaspoons Aloe Vera Gel. If you have just one of these, either Aloe Vera or Aloe Vera Gel, measure all 3 teaspoons of your Aloe and pour into the small aloe jar.
3. Measure your lipid oils:
Measure 1 teaspoon each of 3 lipid oils and pour into the second glass jar. Stir with chopstick to make sure they are combined well. Break open capsules of Vitamin E, and add their contents to the oil mixture.
4. Pour Oils into Aloe Vera:
Pour your lipid mixture into the aloe mixture. Stir vigorously until the mixture turns opaque. Next, add your essential oil(s) or blend and stir vigorously again.
5. Pour your lotion into your 1-oz bottle!
Go slowly to avoid loosing the mixture. A small spatula helps to get all the lotion into the bottle. Label and date your lotion. Use up the lotion within 4-6 weeks, if stored properly.
CUSTOMIZING:
My proportions are roughly 50% aloe to 50% oils. For a 1-ounce bottle, the addition of Vitamin E plus scent is roughly 2%.
I recommend making a 1-ounce bottle to start. Then if you love it, you can make more. Note that the vitality of the ingredients is best in the short, rather than the long term.
Adding less than 1% essential oils to scent lotion in a 1-ounce bottle means you will add 6 drops to your bottle.
VARIATIONS:
Approximately 6 teaspoons of oil and aloe fit into a 1 fluid ounce bottle. In this recipe, you have 3 teaspoons total for the oil. And three teaspoons of aloe for the aloe phase.
Customize your very own lotion with the scent of your choice!***
After trying out this recipe, customize it to suit your skin’s needs. For example, you can play with a combination of oils. Some combinations might be olive oil plus avocado oil for very dry skin, or Sunflower, Sesame and Jojoba oils for rejuvenating sallow skin.
Lipid Oils are the pourable oils you can select from. Choose from organic oils where possible. Here are suggestions: Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Sunflower Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sesame Oil (untoasted).
You can also vary the amount of aloe versus oils to suit. For example, you could use less aloe and more oil, or more aloe and less oil.
Make the most beautiful lotion and encourage glow. Allow your face to breathe! Oil & Aloe Lotion and warm-water wash-off both cleanses and moisturizes skin at once. With acid and alkaline in natural balance, your skin has its best chance to thrive.
INSTRUCTIONS For Using:
Shake the bottle vigorously each time you use your new face lotion.
Pour a dime-sized amount of lotion onto your palm. Rub or shear the lotion between your palms and then tap-apply to face and massage in circles. Remove with wash-cloth and warm water. Apply Toner and Moisturizer. Bask in the glow!
Store your lotion in a cool, dark cupboard. Don’t allow water to contaminate the mixture. Use within 4 weeks.

Your food and lifestyle speak to you on the inside before they appear as skin problems. Consult with a nutritionist and medical doctor if you have skin conditions.
Sniff and Check for Your Sense of Smell
Select an essential oil that you love. Start by adding just 2-4 drops to your Oil and Aloe mixture. Sniff and check. Is the scent perfect? If not, add 2 more drops. Your total amount of essential oil or blend should be 6 drops in a 1-ounce mixture. This is less than 1% and best for a product you’ll use often.
***Essential oils that enhance this combination are Rose Absolute, Mandarin Orange, Cajeput, Scots Pine, Rosemary ct verbenone, Ylang-Ylang, Roman Chamomile, and Yarrow.
