Brew Coffee. Make Spiced Syrup. Put them together for Sweet-Savory Coffee!
Sweet Savory Recipe follows below.
Ingredients for Spiced Syrup:
Makes about 1 ¾ cups of syrup
1 ¾ cup hot water, just off the boil
½ cup coconut sugar (or up to 1 cup, to taste)
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
½ teaspoon coriander seeds
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
½ teaspoon ground smoky paprika
Method:
1. Grind coriander and cumin seeds together in a spice grinder. Pour into a small container and add ground ginger and turmeric.
2. Place coconut sugar in a heat-proof bowl and pour boiling water over the sugar. Stir slowly to dissolve the sugar.
3. Add the ground spices. Cover the bowl with a heat-proof (not plastic) plate and allow to rest at least 3 hours to fully infuse the flavors of spices.
4. Strain the spices from the syrup. Re-strain to remove silt from the syrup.
5. Bottle and store in the refrigerator. Keeps about 3 weeks
